For transformation to occur what controls can or will you hand over to God?
•Focus on one defect/issue at a time - Matthew 6:11 Give us this day our daily bread
•Focus on victory one day at a time
•Focus on God’s power, not your will power
•Focus on the good things, not bad
•Focus on doing good, not feeling good
•Focus on people who help, not hinder you- you can’t do it alone you (Proverbs 27:17 As iron Sharpens iron, so one personal sharpens another.
•Focus on progress, not perfection
How do we cooperate with God’s change process? We hand over the control to God. When looking at the life of Jacob we understand that God allows all kinds of crisis to get our attention.
Jacob was a cheater, con artist, liar and manipulator always trying to get something. He tried to control his life and depended on himself. He pretty much made a mess of his life. He started fighting from the womb. He was born holding his twin brother Esau’s heel. Jacob was in conflict with everyone. In Genesis 32:22-32 the bible tells us Jacob wrestle with a man till daybreak. The man saw that he could not overpower him, he touched the socket of Jacob’s hip that disabled Jacob. It was then that Jacob realized that his fight was not against anyone, but God himself. He was fighting the plan that God had for him. It is a beautiful thing to surrender all to God and allow him to make something beautiful and new. Have you been fighting with God and not know it?
